Phish came to Telluride for two days in August of 2010 and so did everyone else- or close to it. Including the thousands upon thousands of fans that turned up, multiple big name bands, musicians, and DJ's the likes of Karl Denson, Jeff Austin and Friends, Tea Leaf Green, Marco Benevento, DJ Harry, Drew Emmit, Jason Flournoy, Tyler Grant, DJ Logic, and Cornmeal turned up too, and all played multiple gigs at locations all over town, some of which went on until 2:30 in the morning and later. Every music venue in town hosted late night acts every night as well, and thus there an abundance of places to have fun with friends new and old. Overall and without a doubt, the crowds who came to see Phish in Telluride's Town Park couldn't have had a better time, or been more respectful and 'well-behaved,' and it was a huge boon to local businesses to boot.
Just before Tuesday night's encore, Phish's frontman Trey Anastasio let all of the Telluride Town Park crowd know just how special it was for Phish to be here as well, with a very heartfelt and entertaining story of the band's first trip to Colorado (and Telluride) in 1988, relayed with both laughter and gratitude. As if everyone having the incredible time that they had weren't enough, there was even a wedding on Monday afternoon just before the first show: Mr. and Mrs. Dave and Karen Allen (the latter being a Phish fan since the early 90's), formerly of Telluride and now living in Boulder, tied the knot on the Telluride Courthouse steps just hours before the band took the stage in the park.
